Hey there, student leaders! 

We hope you had a restful and refreshing spring break! As we jump back into the semester, it's the perfect time to reset and plan for a successful finish to the spring. This newsletter is packed with important updates, upcoming events, and handy tips to make your spring semester a hit. Have questions or need help? SUFAC Budget Updates 

Budget Hearings Start March 17:

Budget hearings have started today, March 17. So far, only 30 out of 41 student organizations have signed up for a time slot. If your organization hasn't signed up yet, your budget for the next fiscal year might not be approved.

Make sure to come prepared and be on time.

Business Transaction Freeze Dates:

If your student organization plans to purchase or travel after May 1 through the end of the fiscal year, June 30, please note the following freeze dates when transactions cannot be processed. Due to the university switching to new software in July, many business processes currently in the old systems will need to “freeze.” 

Travel Requests: 

  • Submit a cash advance request – Final date: May 9, 2025 
  • Submit an expense reimbursement report – Final date: May 28, 2025 (for items like gas reimbursements) 
  • Reconcile cash advances – June 9, 2025 
  • Return extra cash advance funds – June 12, 2025 

Purchase Requests: 

  • Create purchase requisitions and purchase orders for F25 or FY26 – Last day: May 30, 2025 
  • Enter or update contracts – Final date: June 13, 2025 
  • Submit chargebacks to Business Office – Final date: June 18, 2025 
  • ​​​​​​​Enter direct payments – Final date: June 23, 2025 

All finance transactions will be frozen from June 26-July 6, 2025.

Nominate Your Student Organization and Student Leaders Today!

Every spring, the Department of Student Involvement recognizes student leaders, organizations, and advisors for their contributions to the campus community. Please fill out nominations for the following awards: 

  • Outstanding Emerging Leader 
  • Outstanding Student Leader 
  • Community Engagement Award (Individual) 
  • Evolving Student Organization 
  • Student Organization Advisor of the Year 
  • Student Organization Community Engagement Award 
  • Student Organization Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award 
  • Student Organization Program of the Year 

Nomination forms can be completed online by any member of the campus community until March 23rd. Log into ‘Jackets Connect with your UWS credentials to fill out the nomination form. 

This year, the Yellowjacket Student Excellence Awards Reception will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd from 4-6 p.m. – mark your calendars! 

Nominate Yourself for SGA Leadership: March 17th-31st

Nominations for the Student Government Association for the 2025-2026 academic year will be open from March 17-31. You can nominate yourself for positions such as president, at-large senators, departmental senators, and graduate senators. The Student Government Association aims to represent students’ interests and enhance their experience. For any questions, contact senate@uwsuper.edu

 

‘Jackets Connect Tips and Tricks!  

Did you know?

Manage documents: Manage all your organization-related documents and pictures in ‘Jackets Connect. This allows your organization’s officers to access important documents like budget requests, meeting agendas, and the constitution easily.  
  1. Go to your group. 
  2. Select “Files.” 

  3. Click “Upload” to upload documents. 

  4. Click “New Folder” to create a new folder. 

  5. Click on the “More Icon” and select “Privacy” to control who can access the file, ensuring it remains private if desired.
